The purpose of this blog is to reflect about the violence against black Americans in the earliest 18th and 19th century or at least provide the readers with a good educate guess about why these acts of violence were something of the everyday lifestyle. So, according to classroom learning I believe that the violence against African Americans was even subjective and symbolic violence, because of the significance that those acts portrayed to the white supremacy. For the white people I believe it was a ways to say to the black people don’t mess with us if you don’t want to find some trouble. In addition, those acts of violence against African American meant at that time, that because of their color, they don’t have the right to belong in the land of the white people. However, if something is true about that is that, it illustrates the inbuilt disproportion in America’s treatment of African American and the way in which this violence becomes internalized and invades the most confidential of the group unit. It was really shocked to me to see the pictures of entire communities taking justice on their own hands because alleged crimes against their society without respect of the human life. Also, it is a little contradictory to me their point of view, because allegedly from what I learned based in the videos and course’s lecture is that white people believed that black people were uncivilized and with lack education. However, this “street justice” without a decent trial makes me raise the following question; whose were the barbarian black people or white people?
Also, It can be concluded, that despite the fact the violence of the 18th and 19th against African American, this kind of behavior by the white supremacy have something to do with the culture learned at time than any other factor. In other words, if people live in an aggressive environment they are more likely to become aggressive too.
